Darlene Whalen, P. Eng.
Vice-Chairperson
Darlene Whalen was appointed Vice-Chairperson of the Public Utilities Board in May 2000. Before this appointment, she was a part-time commissioner with the Board for the past three years.
Ms. Whalen holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree (Civil) and a Masters degree in Applied Science and Environmental Engineering, both from Memorial University.

Ms. Whalen is a registered professional engineer and has worked in the consulting field in the area of water resources engineering. Before joining the Board as Vice-Chairperson, she worked with the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at Memorial University where she managed the Co-operative Education Office and taught in the area of environmental science and engineering.
Ms. Whalen is a past president of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists and also served on the Offshore Petroleum Engineering Taskforce and the Newfoundland & Labrador Science and Technology Advisory Council.
